HOW TO MAXIMISE YOUR PREGGLOW

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was very lucky and felt amazing from the beginning to birth, I enjoyed my pregnancy so much. It was a fascinating time, how my body changed and my skin was amazing, my hair was thick and shiny. I literally felt like a goddess.

I was almost a bit obsessed with documenting. I couldn't wait for my belly to show and I took tons and tons of photos, what I didn’t do was print them out. I stored them in a hard disk. It was getting full, so my husband get me a new one. Somehow I thought I have transfer them correctly, and we reformat the disk. That was before cloud storage time, and everything before the birth were gone. Luckily, I have uploaded some images to FB. You can imagine how upset and angry I was. To be honest, I am still.

Like most new parents, we had hardly any sleep after the birth, printing photos were the last thing on our minds. Don't make the same mistake I did, please make sure to print out your favourite photos, even from they are just iPhone photo! We simply can't rely on digital only. That's also the reason why I decided to ALWAYS print the work for my clients. Everything is backed up in Dropbox and an external hard disk as well. So you have nothing to worry about.

I know we are all overwhelmed with the sheer amount of photos we have. I started a family Instagram account and that forces me to post and choose the best of. If I lose my phone, lost the backup, they are at least on Instagram. You can also print out your Instagram stream super easy with apps like Chatbooks.

I keep my family Instagram account private and share only with my family members.

So now you have decided to invest in a session, to remember this glorious time of your life, here are some tips on how to prepare for your maternity session.  And maximize your pregnancy glow.

  • Moisturize that belly! Manicure is a must, your man or little ones too.

  • Bring along a few props: the ultrasound printout of your baby

  • Wear something that you feel comfortable and pretty in – long, flowy skirts, stick with solids are best, and strapless bras that coordinate with them. I have a small collection of maternity dresses you are welcome to use.

  • Bring a pair of regular jeans, not the belly panel ones. A button-up shirt also makes it easy to transition into showing your belly. Lacy dresses are very flattering and elegant choice.

  • Accessories like a lovely necklace, earrings are great to bring along to go with your outfits.

  • Bring along smooth nude bra and undergarments, lace bras are beautiful on their own, but if you plan to wear a top over, smooth seamless bras are a better choice, strapless is also a good idea for open neck top.

  • Your significant other can join near the end of the session! They are part of the story and greatly expand on the number of different photos you can make during your shoot. They should bring outfits that coordinate with what you’ll be wearing. The focus should always be on you, your expressions, your emotions, your personality, your joy and your connection with the life that is growing inside of you.

  • Bring the big sister/brother. These images will one day be priceless.

Pregnancy is a miraculous time, it is so worth to remember this time. Be sure to book your maternity session early enough to make sure the session falls between 26 to 32 weeks. Usually expecting moms are more mobile and still feeling fresh. Also, many women experience water retention near the end of their pregnancy. Don't wait until the last month to do the session.

Call me and arrange a consultation as soon as possible to make sure you have your slot around 30 weeks to capture this very special of your life.
