Before a shoot

BREAKFAST. Eat a good protein rich breakfast, so everyone is satiated & happy.

SNACKS. If we are on location, bring along a snack and drink for the children & a picnic blanket.

PREP YOUR HOME. If we will shoot in your home, try to clear away a corner near a window. I often use the family bed as our background, use only solid color bedsheet. Best choices are neutrals like white, beige, or grey. Stay away from bright strong colors or any patterns.

FEEL & EMBRACE. We encourage you to embrace whatever mood you feel during your session. Feel free to relax, laugh and have a good time.

BE YOURSELF. Portraits are best when everyone is being themselves. So just let your kids play and be themselves too. I sometimes like to take a few moment time alone with them, and goof around with them. Because you know how kids are, the more you tell them to smile, the faker the smile. We want real emotions.

PRETEND I AM NOT HERE. It’s important to remember that just because there is a camera pointing at you, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be looking at the camera. Sometimes the strongest images are created when you are interacting with one another and enjoying a moment as opposed to posing.

I am looking so much forward to our session and creating beautiful memories for your family.
