GET A MANICURE. Soft, neutral colors work best. While you’re at it, toss in the pedicure (go for any color you like on toes). 

GET GROCERY. Plan a healthy shoot-day breakfast and snacks. 

WASH YOUR HAIR. Fully air dry or blowout your hair, but avoid using hot tools such as curling or straightening irons. Before bed, pull your hair up into a loose top-knot for volume. Don’t put any products in your hair.

If your goal is couple of great professional profile photos, then you want to look your best but still look like you, so I advice you to style your hair in the morning like you normally would to speed up the process. As hair is very personal and I want you like them on your photos, so I will always ask you to do final touches anyway.

Very Short Hair? You can wait to shampoo until the morning of the shoot.

SHAVE. Touch up your body hair situation; remember under- arms, and legs; and possibly forearms, bikini, and upper lip.

TWEEZE EYE BROWS. Double check for any strays.

BEAUTY SLEEP. I know it is not always easy, but try your best to get 7-8 hours of sleep.

GO SHOPPING & TREATMENTS

Your shoot is in a few weeks. I got a few more tips for you to plan ahead.

GO SHOPPING. Begin planning your outfits, placing any online orders. I gave you a style guide at our consultation. But here is my Online Style Guide with links where to find dresses on Amazon which are inexpensive and great addition for your photo shoot.

Start putting aside everything you need to complete each outfit, including jewelries, underpinnings and accessories.

MOVE YOUR BODY. Start Stretching & exercise. Try to stretch for 20 minutes each day before your shoot. Especially your neck, back, and hips. Need a personal trainer? Ilias Lampri can give you nutritional advice and help you get in shape.

SKIN CARE. Wash your face nightly, exfoliate your body every other day, use a moisturizer on your full body every day. I love to use aloe vera gel then go over it with an oil like extra virgin coconut oil or rose oil from Dr Hauscka. I have been quite obsessed with Ringana’s high tech, organic & nasties free products.

VISIT DENTIST. Get a regular cleaning and whiten your teeth. If you are looking for an excellent English speaking dentist, Dr. Bonsall is your man.

BOOK A MANICURE. Gel polish keeps your nails strong and lasts up to three weeks.

7 DAYS COUNT DOWN

Your portrait shoot is about a week away. I got a few more tips and reminders for you.

GET ORGANIZE. Gather and Organize Outfits. Complete the Wardrobe Prep Checklist on the “How to Prepare” panel of the Style Guide.

HAIR CUT. Be sure to do this at least 7 days prior to the shoot to allow a fresh cut to settle. If it's a new style this will give you some time to get used to it - although, any drastic hair style changes are not recommended right before a photo shoot. Ny from M la Suite, he is so funny and a great stylist.

WAXING. Wax Eyebrows and Upper Lip. Get your brows waxed or threaded by a pro. Try to stay close to your natural shape, and don’t go too thin. Have your upper lip waxed as well.

BODY. Wax or shave the hair on your legs and underarms. Depending on how revealing your outfit choices are, you may also need to take care of your bikini area.

CUT BACK. Cut Back excessive Caffeine and Salt. Both are dehydrating and cause your body to retain water.

NO FAKE TAN. If you usually spray tan or use fake tanning lotion, take a break now until after your shoot. Just let me know if you like a tanned look, I can adjust that in photoshoot.

FINAL WARDROBE CONSULTATION. Let’s finalize your wardrobe and make styling plans.
Send me some snaps of your outfits if you haven’t done so.

ROOTS. Touch Up Your Roots. If you dye your hair, touching up your regrowth three days before your photo shoot is ideal. Keep in mind that this is not the time for drastic changes.

GET A TRIM. Neat, healthy hair is youthful and vibrant. If it’s been a while since your last haircut, go for a subtle trim.

DEEP CONDITION. Your salon can do a conditioning treatment, or you can use your favorite deep conditioner at home. I love this AVEDA DAMAGE REMEDY™ Split End Repair.

GET AN EYELASH REFILL. If you usually have eyelash extensions, be sure to have them refreshed a few days before your session. (Do not get lash extensions if they aren’t in your regular routine.)

Your session is coming up in a few weeks. I have prepared a series of Prep Guide which I will send you bit by bit over the next few week. Let’s get slowly but surely ready for your shoot!

I like you to really pay extra attention to yourself and give yourself some “star treatments” the coming weeks, because you, my dear, are the star of your photoshoot, and out of all people, you yourself deserve all the care and treatments!

MAKE APPOINTMENTS. When booking your salon and spa appointments, be sure to refer to the timeline on the Beauty Guide I gave you. Many treatments are time-sensitive. For example: waxing your brows should be booked one week before shoot, to avoid redness.

HYDRATION. Drink more water. We all know water is important, yet we still forget to drink enough. Start now. I like to add lemon to detox, also I like to add a pinch of sea salt to add some electrolyte. Get a pretty bottle like this might help. 

DON’T BURN. Sunburns and tan lines are portrait ruiners. Use a hat to protect your face. When you do go on holiday right before your shoot, you might be in the sun, go in and out of the sun when you do. I can always increase your tan on photoshop so easily, so don’t go crazy and get burn. That’s much harder to fix.

GET INSPIRE. Go through my gallery and pin you fav images. Check out also my Pinterest board for some posing/outfits inspirations. Create a secret board and share it with me. So I can see what you like most and work toward that direction. No two shoots are the same and we don’t copy. You will always get something custom made for you.

JOURNAL. Write in a journal. Could be just keywords. I like you to really connect with yourself. Write about who you are in this moment, how you want to see yourself, which parts of yourself that you love or maybe that you have lost touch with and want to reconnect with that part of you again.

For example, I recently turned 40. I feel calm and content where I am in my life. I have been working out and optimized my diet the past few months. I am really proud of my achievement, I feel stronger and fitter than ever. I want some new photos of my face, my body, especially my legs and arms. I want my portrait to show the wisdom, strength, and definition I have gained.
